Information on the Edusave Character Award (ECHA) 2017


We are pleased to inform you that Ministry of Education has introduced a new Edusave Character Award (ECHA) since 2012, to enable schools to recognise students who demonstrate exemplary character and outstanding personal qualities through their behaviour and actions.  This is part of the larger goal to foster an inclusive and stronger Singapore as we broaden the qualities and achievements to be encouraged and applauded.

In Chua Chu Kang Primary School, we believe in nurturing pupils of good values and character, who are active contributors and concerned citizens. As such, this award further strengthens our school’s efforts in recognising students who consistently demonstrate exemplary character and values.

To be eligible for the award, student must satisfy the following eligibility criteria:

a.     Students must be Singaporeans studying in the School; and

b.     Students must have demonstrated exemplary character and values in a consistent manner and be a role model to others. In particular, students may be identified for demonstrating the following types of qualities:

(i)             Qualities associated with any of the School values – Diligence, Excellence, Discipline, Care, Respect, Teamwork and Lifelong Learning; and/or

(ii)           Demonstrated a high level of civic responsibility.  Students who have demonstrated concerns about issues relating to the community or issues faced by others. They could have initiated action to address these issues to improve the lives of others, and demonstrate commitment to making a positive difference; and/or

(iii)          Qualities associated with resilience.  Students who have persevered despite facing difficult circumstances (e.g. financial problems, family issues, health issues etc.), and managed to overcome the odds and still do commendably well in academic and/or non-academic domains.
